Chittagong, Bangladesh: East Bengal rode on Ranti Martins’ brace to march into the finals of Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup, after beating Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club 3-0 in the second semi-final played at M.A. Aziz Stadium here on Wednesday.
Ranti Martins netted in either side of the pitch, and Mohammed Rafique also get his name on the score-sheet in the game wich marked the 200th international match for the red and gold brigade.
East Bengal coach Bishwajit Bhattacharya named an unchanged side from the team that played goalless against Dhaka Abahani on Saturday, trusting the pair of Ranti Martins and Orok Orok Eassien upfront with Do Dong-hyun started on bench.
The in form East Bengal side started as brighter of two sides and found crack in the Mohammedan defence early in the game when Ranti Martins headed the ball home from a right sided cross of Avinash Ruidas in the 8th minute.
Having conceded early Mohammedan pressed hard for the equaliser but the East Bengal defense thwarted each of their attempts with ease.
Around the half-hour mark East Bengal almost doubled their advantage but Orok Orok Essien failed to found the back of the net from a Ranti Martins pass, with only keeper to beat.
East Bengal had to wait till the 48th minute to see themselves 2-0 up, when Rafique scored from a deflected shot of Orok Orok.
The vistiors took the game completely out of Dhaka Mohammedan’s reach by adding a third in the 58th minute through Ranti, who scored from a inch-perfect cross of Prohlad Roy from the left side.
In the reaminder of the game East Bengal had few more chances to increase the scoreline but could not capitalize on those as the final scoreline read 3-0 in favour of East Bengal.
East Bengal will face the hosts Chittagong Abahani in the summit clash on October 30, who defeated De Spinghar Bazan FC 3-1 in the first semi-final played on Yesterday.
