MUMBAI: Indian national team coach Stephen Constantine revealed that the All India Football Federation haven’t received an official confirmation from the Indian Olympic Association regarding the participation of the Indian men’s team at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games.
IOA on Friday cleared the Indian men’s football team for the second largest multi-sport event on earth commencing from 18 August.
IOA Secretary General Rajeev Mehta mentioned that Indian football is improving and he expects the team will do well to finish above 10th spot this time.
However, Constantine on Saturday said AIFF is yet to hear from the government on the issue.
Earlier Constantine appealed to the government to send the team to the Asian Games so that the players can get maximum exposure ahead of 2019 AFC Asian Cup.
The Englishman stated that at least 11 players in the current Indian squad are below 23 and he wants them to get benefited with this participation.
