KOLKATA: East Bengal will look to record their second straight win in the ongoing 2018/19 Calcutta Premier Division ‘A’ when they face Calcutta Customs at East Bengal Ground on Friday, kick-off 4:30 am.
After beating West Bengal Police 2-0 in the previous match, East Bengal will be riding high on confidence and a win will lift them to top of the table.
Calcutta Customs, in contrast, started their campaign with a 1-1 draw with Aryan Club. Therefor, it’s quite certain that they will come hard at East Bengal to log their first win of the season.
“We have got off to a good start but can’t take anything for granted. The league is very competitive and all teams are almost equal. Though we won our last match but I think there is still room for improvement. We need to stay grounded and focus on the task at hand.” East Bengal technical director Subhash Bhowmick said.
Though East Bengal are the overwhelming favourites heading into the fixture, the Red and Golds will be wary of Customs.
“Customs are full of energy. They have a lot of good players. You have to give them respect. It’s not going to be easy against them. To prevent them from playing well we have to make sure that we close them down.” Bhowmick added.
“Things are good in training. We are rectifying shortcomings and the players are responding well to our tactical philosophy. Hopefully, we can put on another good performance. As long as we concentrate and get our passing game going I’m sure we can go out there and get the result,” he concluded.
