Shillong 13th February: Shillong Lajong FC is in the city of joy and will face East Bengal in their next I-League clash on 14th February, Thursday at the Salt Lake Stadium at 5PM.
The match will be live on Star Sports 3 as well as on digital platforms such as Jio TV and Hotstar.
Shillong Lajong will be heading into Thursday’s game after winning two consecutive matches against Minerva Punjab away by 0-1 and Churchill Brothers at home by 3-2.
Taking confidence from these victories the Lajong youngsters are ready for the challenge who are in a very good form right now and will look to avenge their 1-3 home defeat to East Bengal that was played on the 1st of November 2018.
Shillong Lajong Coach Alison Kharsyntiew said, “After winning two games in a row it has given the team the much-needed confidence.”
He also commented on the Kolkata side who are currently 4th in the I-League table with 28 points. He said, “We know it won’t be an easy game against East Bengal as they are a big club with good players. They have the home advantage and experienced players like Jobby Justin who can score goals for their side.”
“Our strategy is to play a more attacking football and work collectively well as a team. I believe that the boys will score more goals, defend and overall play well”, he concluded.
On the other side, East Bengal FC is heading into this Hero I-League clash after a 2-1 win over Neroca FC at home. Enrique Alejandro scored the brace in the 67th and 86th minute.
The I-League title contenders have won 9 matches, drawn one and lost four games thus far.
Speaking ahead of the match, East Bengal’s Spanish Head Coach, Alejandro Menendez said, “We have to respect the opponent and if we don’t respect we will lose the match because they are a good team. Lajong is doing well lately and their counter attack is also good.”
“We have to enjoy the game and get the three points”, he said.
