Panjim: Calangute Association and Sesa Football Academy (SFA) played out a drab draw in the Goa Football Association’s Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium, Mapusa.
Calangute Association dominated early minutes of the game as Daryl Costa troubled SFA by making dangerous runs on the right-wing. However, Sesa FA defender Biken managed to hold off the winger for the majority of the game after an excellent defensive performance.
In the 14th minute, Calangute captain attempted a long-range strike which was saved by Sesa FA keeper Sapam.
SFA did create some chances. Myran came close to scoring in the 29th minute but his header went wide off the near post. There were no goals in the first 45 minutes.
The second half saw an early substitution made by the newly appointed head coach of SFA Armando Colaco who substituted Biken for Shafeeq.
In the 50th minute, Vishnu received a yellow card for a foul on Alesh Sawant who came back on the pitch minutes later to foul Vishnu. Alesh received a yellow card for his rash tackle on the SFA winger. Alesh was substituted by the Calangute coach and Domnic brought fresh legs to the pitch.
SFA dominated possession and created some chances in the second half. Shafeeq steered the ball from the left wing into the box in the 74th minute but Richard Cardoz failed to score.
In the 71st minute, Kunal Salganokar was substituted on for Ben as the SFA coach looked to add attacking teeth. SFA had a chance again in the 78th minute after Kunal Salgaonkar’s header from a direct free-kick by Dominic went way off target.
In the dying minutes of the game, SFA created another chance after their midfielder Domnic when he steered a through ball for Richard who failed to materialize.
Both teams shared points at the end of 90 minutes as the game resulted in 0-0.
