36th All India Governor’s Gold Cup to commence from October 16

 

Sikkim: The 36th All India Governor’s Gold Cup Football Tournament is likely to be conducted by Sikkim Football Association at Paljor Stadium, Gangtok from 16th Oct to 27th Oct 2016.

Shri Sriniwas Patil, the Hon’ble Governor and Shri Pawan Chamling, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim are likely to be the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honours in the inagural as well as in the final.

This year the championship will be a 12-team affair. The following reputed teams from the country as well as two teams from Nepal are likely to participate. The teams are Mohammedan Sporting Club (Kolkata), Manang Masangdhi Club (Nepal), United Sports Club (Kolkata), ONGC (Mumbai), Kerala SEB, Nagpur FC, Jhapa FC (Nepal), Calcutta Customs, ARC, Shillong, Calcutta Port Trust, Sikkim Aakraman FC and Gangtok Himalayan SC.

ONGC triumph in shoot-out to lift Governor’s Gold Cup

ONGC FC lifted the 35th All India Governor’s Gold Cup by defeating Manang Marshyangdi Club Nepal 2-0 via penalty shoot-out, after a keenly contested encounter ended 2-2 after regulation time and extra time at Paljor Stadium, here on Tuesday (21 October).

In first-half it was ONGC who dominated the procceding. Kailash Patil put them in to the lead in 20th minute and in 36th minute Fanai Lalmuanpuia scored from free-kick to double the lead. Meanwhile the team from Nepal did create some good moves in patches but ONGC defenders succesfull thwarted them.

At the half-time teams went to dressing room with the mumbai outfit leading 2-0.

After change of ends MMC Nepal went on an all out effort to level the scoreline and with immediate effect Sujal Shrestha pulled one goal back for MMC in 50th minute from the spot. Trailing on 2-1 the nepali club pressed even harder on ONGC defence and equalised on 64th minute through Dodoz. During remaining part of the match both teams came close to breaking the deablock but none of them could not able to done that.

In penalty shootout ONGC found the target twice out of their four attempts however MMC Nepal failed to convert any of their shots in to the goal.

MMC Nepal, ONGC to meet in the final of Governor’s Gold Cup

Manang Marshyangdi Club Nepal outplayed Sikkim Boys (SFA White) 3-1 to set up a summit clash against ONGC FC in the finale of 35th All India Governor’s Gold Cup, Paljor Stadium, Sikkim, on Sunday (19 October).

In 57th minute Sujal Srestha scored from the spot to put Nepali club in to the lead, but in 75th minute Sikkim Boys (SFA White) equalised from a penalty kick as well, after 90 minutes of regulation time both teams were locked 1-1. But goals in extra time from team captain Shiva Shrestha and Dodoz fixed a date with ONGC for the Nepali club in the fianl on Tuesday (21 October).

Earlier ONGC had defeated Sikkim Himalyan SC 2-1 in the first semi-final on Saturday.

Lalmuanpuia’s late goal ensures final berth for ONGC

Fanai Lalmuanpuia scored a spectacular goal in 88th minute to guide ONGC FC to a 2-1 victory over Sikkim Himalayan Sporting Club and enter the final of 35th All India Gold Cup at Sikkim’s Paljor Stadium on Saturday (18 October) afternoon.

ONGC started the proccedings brightly, the team from Mumbai only took 6 minutes to get the lead through Kailash Patil, only for Nima Tamang to score the equaliser for Sikkim Himalayan SC in 58th minute but a late strike in 88th minute from Fanai Lalmuanpuia secured a berth in final for ONGC after 2010.

Tomorrow Sikkim Boys (SFA White) will lock horns with  MMC Nepal in the second semifinal match at the same venue on 2 pm.

MMC Nepal outplayed Army XI 2-0 in the fourth quarter-fianl of 35th Governor’s Gold Cup

Manang Marshyangdi Club Nepal, outplayed Army XI 2-0 in the fourth quarter-fianl match to book a berth in the semi-finals of the 35th All India Governor’s Gold Cup 2014 at Sikkim’s Paljor Stadium on Friday (17 October).

Goals in either side of the ends from Leone Zakhia Dodozo and captain Shiva Shrestha secured a dominating victory for the Nepali club, Manang Marshyangdi Club Nepal will lock horns with Sikkim Boys (SFA White) on October 19 at Paljor Stadium Sikkim.

ONGC reaches to the semifinals of 35th Governor’s Gold Cup by beating Shillong United

Former champions ONGC FC reached to the semifinals of 35th Governor’s Gold Cup after beating Shillong United 6-5 via penalties in the third quarterfinal held  at Paljor Stadium on Thursday (16th October)

ONGC took the lead in 12th minute with a inpeccable strike from Kailash Patil but  it only took 10 minutes for Shillong United  to came back on level terms courtesy of a own goal by ONGC defender Karan Atwal.

After 120 minutes of football both teams were locked on a 1-1 draw but the penalties saw ONGC beating Shillong United 5-4 .

ONGC  will take on Sikkim Himalayan SC in the semifinals on October 18.

Sikkim Himalayan SC beat Tollygunge Agragami to advance in to the semi-fianls of Governor’s Gold Cup

Sikkim Himalayan Sportng Club registered an emphatic 2-0 win over Kolkata outfit Tollygunge Agragami in the second quarter-final of 35th Governor’s Gold Cup at Paljor Stadium, Sikkim on Wedenesday (15 October) afternoon.

First-half strikes from Philipe Dorjee and Sudesh Subba was enough to take Sikkim Simayalayan SC through the semi-finals as the second team from Sikkim after SFA White (Sikkim Boys) who defeated defending champions Three Star Nepal on yesterday.

Tomorrow ONGC FC will face Shillong United in the third semi-final on 2 pm at Paljor Stadium, Sikkim.

SFA White beat defending champions Three Star Nepal to knock out from 35th Governor’s Gold Cup

Defending champions Three Star Club Nepal suffered a 0-1 defeat from SFA White (Sikkim Boys) in the first quarter-final of 35th Governor’s Gold Cup on Tuesday (14 October) afternoon at Sikkim’s Paljor Stadium.

Despite of missing four key players from their regular team the Nepali club had maximum possessions in entire match, but an extra-time own goal in 100th minute from defender Bijaya Dhimal sealed the fate of the match in favour of SFA White.

Tomorrow Tollygunge Agragami will face Sikkim Himalayan SC in the second quarter-final at Paljor Stadium, Sikkim on 2 pm.

Shillong United defeated Kalimpong XI 2-1 to secure a quarter-final berth in 35th Governor’s Gold Cup

Shillong United FC defeated Kalimpong XI 2-1 to secure a quarter-final berth in 35th All India Governor’s Gold Cup on Monday (13 October) afternoon at Paljor Stadium, Sikkim.

 

Don Barlalng of Shillong United scored in  33rd minute to put his team 1-0 up only for Yugal Rai to restore the parity for Kalimpong XI on 70th minute of the match but a late goal by Sushil Metti on 87th minute settled the issue for Shillong United FC.

 

Defending champions Three Star Nepal will take on SFA White tomorrow at 2 pm on the same venue.

 

SFA white baet Aryan Club in the 35th Governor’s Gold Cup

SFA White beat Kolkata outfit Aryan Club 1-0 in the 35th Governor’s Gold Cup at Paljor Stadium Sikkim on Sunday (12 October) afternoon.

A first-half goal in 36th minute from captain Tenzing Tsephel was enough to secure the victory for Sikkim Boys over Aryan, as a result of this victory SFA White advanced to to the quarter-final round of the tournament.

Tomorrow Kalimpong XI will face Shillong United at the same venue on 2 pm.
