Indian men’s U-23 team suffered a huge defeat against 2010 Asian Games Silver medalist, United Arab Emirates in Group G match.
Team India led by captain Sunil Chhetri failed to score any goal throughout throughout the match as they lost badly by 0-5 against higher ranked team.
UAE started first half with domination against India, as Indian defender constantly faced UAE forwards in first 10 minutes at India’s half. Pronay halder got injured in 12th minute of the play and substituted by Lalrindika Ralte. UAE Captain, Saeed Alkatheeri, puts UAE in lead in 13th minutes when he headed a free kick into Indian’s goal post. He doubled the lead in 15th minute as he headed another one in from same area as first.
Al Ahbabi beats Indian goalkeeper and put his side 3-0 up against India in 19th minute of the play. Indian team looked helpless during first 3 goals, but after these three initial goals Indian team grouped together and put up some challenging defensive line for rest of the half.
Pritam Kotal strike saved by UAE goalkeeper and Sunil’s penalty appeal was turned down by referee. Dika took shot in 42nd minute of play but stopped by UAE goalkeeper again.
After first half India trailed by 0-3 against the rivals.
During Second half, India started well and Dika took another shot at the UAE goal in 60th minute but again stopped by goalkeeper. Saeed Alkatheeri completed his hat-trick in 64th minute.
Sunil Chhetri tried few shots but all ended at opposition goalkeeper gloves. UAE scored fifth goal Al Ahbabi scored his brace of the match in 84th minute.
