Police AC slumped to a 4-1 defeat to East Bengal, at Yubabharati Krirangan in a important fixture of 2014 Calcutta Football League on Wednesday (10 September) evening.

 

This was a must win match for East Bengal in their campaign to win CFL, but against all expectations Police scored on 3rd minute through Nilkanta Pariha. After conceding a early goal Red & Gold Brigade made a strong comeback in the match. Ranti & Dudu created a host of chances to equalise and eventually it came on 39th minute of the match when Ranti Martins scored a stunner to restore the parity.

 

Meanwhile East Bengal took the lead through Dudu Omagbemi on 45th minute, who scored another one only after 2 minutes to put his side 3-1 up.

 

Teams went in to the break with East Bengal leading 3-1.

 

In second-half there was hardy anything which can bring excitement in the stands, apart from missed chances by Dudu and a late by Prohlad Roy on 93rd minute.

 

Meanwhile in second-half Police AC did have their chances to score but Emmauel & Nilkantas are simply unlucky to not find back of of the net.

 

East Bengal striker Dudu Omagbemi is selected player of the match.

 

East Bengal will take on SAI (East Zone) next on 13 September at same venue.
