United SC gearing up for the Durand Cup

As part of their preparations of ensuing 127th Durand Football Tournament 2014 United Sports Club played a practice match with South Eastern Railway XI on Tuesday morning at Saltlake Central Park Ground, which they have won by a solitary goal.

Under the guidanse of veteran coach Anjan Nath, the kolkata outfit completed their squad with most of the players from their U-19 team adding seasoned campaigners like Sumit Orao, Surajit Bose and Sankar Orao.

Speaking to THIF United SC owner Mr. Nabab Bhattacharya said, “For us United SC was not just a football team but it’s a family. Most of them in our team is from our U-19 team and they are eager to prove themselfs, they play football out of happiness”, he also added “With addition of some qualitiy foreigners i am hopefull this team will do well in the Durand Cup and following”.

Grouped with Sporting Clube de Goa and Air India FC in the Group-B of Durand Cup, United SC will leave for Goa on 24 October.
